Fall Seasonal Issues of the Okame Cherry Tree

Have you noticed that the leaves on your Okame Cherry Tree have turned yellow and fallen? If so, your tree may be showing signs of infestation or disease.
Repeated defoliation makes the tree more vulnerable to winter injury and may eventually kill it.
In this new video, Kevin Caldwell, owner of Caldwell Tree Care, explains how the Fall Seasonal Issues of Drought and Leaf Spot Disease have caused an Okame Cherry Tree to lose its leaves abnormally early. He also mentions Shot Hole Disease as another issue that negatively affects the trees. He concludes by sharing solutions and treatments Caldwell Tree Care offers to prevent these issues.

Tis The Season For The Southern Pine Beetle

Who knew this small critter, ranging from 2-7 millimeters in length, could create so much damage to a tree?

Needlesbecome ayellowish color, then change to red, and become brown within 1 to 2 months.
The southern pine beetles are the most destructive insects to pines in Georgia. Throughout the state, thedamagecaused by pine bark beetles cancost as much as $25 million per year. Pine Bark Beetles can kill a pine in just a few days by chewing their way through the phloem tissue under the bark,cutting off thetree’sflow of moisture and nourishment. They generally target pines that have been weakened from a constant drought, disease, or smog.
