FOHCAS Inc. advances and promotes humane treatment and care of Habersham County's companion animals through advocacy, education, targeted programs and support of the John B. Gesbocker Animal Shelter of Habersham County.
History:FOHCAS, Inc. was founded in 1998 by a small group of concerned citizens with the objective of leasing and managing the John B. Gesbocher Animal Shelter of Habersham County, providing community education on humane issues, supporting Georgia's mandatory spay/neuter laws, a lost and found clearing house and placing as many healthy, non-aggressive animals in loving homes. FOHCAS continued to provide sheltering services in this way until September, 2008, when they elected to give up the contract and concentrate on public education, advocacy, and becoming a true "friend" to the John B. Gesbocker Animal Shelter of Habersham County.
Friends of Habersham County Animal Shelter, Inc. (FOHCAS) was formed in 1998. We are:
A Federal tax exempt charitable corporation concerned with the welfare of Habersham Countys unwanted, stray and impounded animals.
Governed by a volunteer board and administered by a volunteer executive committee.
