On Friday, September 17, 2010, Bank of Ellijay, Ellijay, GA, and Bank of Canton, Canton, GA, (a division of Bank of Ellijay) was closed by the Georgia Department of Banking & Finance. Subsequently, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was named Receiver. No advance notice is given to the public when a financial institution is closed.
