We are excited to announce that we are going to create a new pictorial directory of our church family. The directory will help us to connect names with faces. It will be an ideal outreach tool.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings and welcome from Saint Joseph Catholic Church in beautiful downtown Macon, Georgia! Our web page contains information concerning our historic and stunningly beautiful church building, the "Jewel of the South" and the various ministries of our parish.
Our first and most important ministry, however, is that of worship and prayer from which all else flows. Through Word and Sacrament we worship and praise God the Father through His only begotten Son by the power of the Holy Spirit. We invite you to be a part of our worship life especially through the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
The Sacrament of Penance, Confession, is celebrated each Saturday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM or by appointment. The ordinary means by which God forgives "Mortal or Serious" sin(s) is this Sacrament. Please make use of this wonderful sacramental gift from Jesus Christ.
Along with me,(frajm@st-joseph.cc), our parish hasone other assigned priest as parochial vicar,FatherJustin Ferguson(frjustin@st-joseph.cc). Any one of us can help answer questions you have about the Catholic Faith, this parish orspiritual needs. As well, our much beloved retired pastor serving from 1974 until 2004, Monsignor John Cuddy continues a visible presence in our parish and community. He is also the chaplain at Mount de Sales Academy.
The Catholic Church's primary mission is to make known the unconditional love and personal relationship God has with us in Jesus Christ His Son and how by God's grace we can have an eternal, personal andloving relationship with God in and through the Catholic Church Jesus founded. Apart from the Mass and other sacraments our ministry of Christian education helps us to make known this truth here in Macon. We have a wonderful elementary school that is a vital part of our parish life and ministry (www.saintjo.com). We offer grades K-4 through 6th. As well, Macon has two other Catholic schools, Saint Peter Claver School, K-3-8th (www.catholic-church.org/spc-mcn) and Mount de Sales Academy, 6th-12th (www.mountdesales.net).
We also provide youth religious education (PREP) for all ages for those who do not attend Catholic school. Please see our "Religious Education" link. We are striving to build a strong youth ministry for all our youth.
Since we must continue to grow in our faith, we also provide ample opportunities for adult religious education for practicing Catholics, lapsed Catholics and those who are inquiring into the Catholic Faith.
Our parish strives to minister to the poor and needy in Macon and beyond through a variety of ecumenical ministries as well as our own "Family AdvancementMinistries."
We have a Wednesday night Supper which is followed by religious education for adults and children as we strive to form a stong faith community. We also provide activities for older parishioners and minister the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist to the homebound by way of Extra-Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion as well as the priests. Please call the parish office or email us if you or a loved one is hospitalized or becomes homebound. Hospitals by law can no longer provide churches with the names of parishioners who desire a visit from their priests/ministers.
I pray that you will join us each Sunday for the celebration of the Most Holy Eucharist and be an active member of our parish family. If you are not a practicing Catholic and wish to return to the Sacraments, please contact one of us priests. As well, if you are not Catholic and would like to learn more about the Catholic Church or be in "Full Communion" with the Catholic Church, simply contact one of the priests for more information on the Rite of Christian Inititation of Adults, (RCIA). May God bless you!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
