Dr. Richard Spanjer September 1976
Dr. Spanjer was born and raised in Cedartown, Georgia, one of four boys, whose parents were general practitioners in Cedartown for 35 years before they retired. He received his B.A. Degree from the University of Colorado in 1965, and then spent a year in graduate school studying psychology. He attended Emory University School of Medicine and spent 3 years in practice training at Grady and Egleston hospitals in Atlanta. From 1973 to 1976 he practiced general pediatrics with the Indian Health Services on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. Main medical interests include infectious diseases and hematology. His wife Patty, is a La Leche League leader and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant/BCLC, and they have 5 children: Michael, Timmy, Genni, Alex and Andrew. Main interests include wild-life, gardening, outdoor recreation and music.
Dr. Luis Viamonte - March 1978
Dr. Viamonte is a native of Havana, Cuba, and came to the United States after high school. He attended the University of Miami and Auburn University. He received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and trained for 3 years at Childrens Medical Center in Dallas. He also served in the United States Navy for 2 years. He is married to the former Ann Varner from Columbus, Georgia and they have a son, Louis David, and a daughter, Beth. Infectious diseases are his special interest. Hiking and swimming are the familys favorite activities.
Dr. William Edwards - July 1999
Dr. Edwards was born in Aberdeen, Maryland and grew up in Dalton, Georgia. He Received a B.A. degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and received his medical degree form the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He trained in pediatrics for 3 years at the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He and his wife Heidi have 2 children, Brad and Charlotte. His medical interests are in information technology and vaccine preventable diseases.
Dr. Michael Hale - July 2004
Dr. Hale was born and raised in Canton, Georgia. He attended college at the University of Georgia. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. His pediatric residency training was completed at Sacred Heart Childrens Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He and his wife Luisa live in Dalton. His outside interests include traveling, reading, and tennis.
