On July 21, 2010, President Obama signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which, in part, permanently raises the current standard maximum deposit insurance amount to $250,000. The standard maximum insurance amount of $100,000 had been temporarily raised to $250,000 until December 31, 2013. The FDIC insurance coverage limit applies per depositor, per insured depository institution for each account ownership category.

West Central Georgia Bank has chosen not to participate in the FDICs Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDICs general deposit insurance rules. Under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program, through December 31, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Although West Central Georgia Bank is not participating in this program, our customers with noninterest-bearing transaction accounts will continue to be insured under the FDICs general deposit insurance rules.
Eddie Rogers, President of West Central Georgia Bank, announced that long-time banker John Hanson has joined the bank as Vice President.
A resident of Molena, Hanson is a 1992 graduate of
R. E. Lee Institute. He earned his Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Mercer University
in 1996, and completed studies at the Graduate School of Banking, conducted at the University of Georgia, in 2000.
He is a member of the Thomaston Kiwanis Club and serves on the Board of Directors for the Pike County Chamber of Commerce. Hanson also serves on the Board of the Pike County Parks and Recreation Authority as well as the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Americas Pike County unit.
He and his wife, the former Rebekah Brown, have three daughters: Elizabeth, Georgia and Audrey.
