Turkey Fry This Sunday!!!
I just checked the weather report for Sunday... the forecast is calling mostly sunny and temperature in the 70's. The weather is going to be great. If you haven't made plans for Sunday yet, it's not too late. Plan on joining Superior Flight School and Preferred Jet Center this Sunday for the Turkey Fry. We are expecting a great turnout! We will have aircraft salesmen with some aircraft on display, helicopter rides, a moon walk for the kids,and plenty of good food. As always, Superior will supply the meats (fried and smoked turkey, smoked beef, pork, ribs, chicken and sausage). PJC is providing the drinks so we have it covered. Bob will be out with the mobile kitchen and Pat Mahaffey will be there this year with his "Cajun Microwave". If you are able, bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share. The sides are always the best at the Turkey Fry! We will be going from 2pm til 6pm or so. Come early and mingle or take a helicopter ride. Bring a friend who is interested in learning to fly and we can answer their questions. We are planning on serving the food between 3:30pm and 4pm, so don't be late... the good stuff always goes fast. Instrument Ground School - November 18th
There is just enough time to get in another Instrument Pilot Ground School before Christmas! (The Elf on the Shelf has already begun!) Class will start on Thursday, November 18th and meet each Monday and Thursday thereafter through Monday, December 20. There will not be a class on Thanksgiving, Thursday November 25. Each class will begin at 6:30pm and will meet until 9:00pm. The cost of the class is $375. You will earn the endorsement to take the Instrument Pilot Written Test and begin preparation for the oral exam phase of your Practical Test. Please contact hutch@superiorflight.com or call the Flight School to reserve your seat. Maybe Santa can get you your seat as an early Christmas present.

Reminder - Turkey Fry Scheduled for Sunday November 14th

It has become quite a tradition at SFS and PJC for our customers, students and friends to bring their families out for a day of fun and friendship on the south side of the airport! We will have aircraft on display, helicopter rides, a moon walk for the kids, some live music and plenty of good food. As always, Superior will supply the meats (fried and smoked turkey, smoked beef, pork and whatever else might be good). PJC is providing the drinks and the entertainment. Bob will be out with the mobile kitchen and Pat Mahaffey has promised to be there this year with his "Cajun Microwave"... and you never know who else might show up to help out. Please plan to bring your favorite side dish to share. It can be homemade or store bought. Respond with the number that will attend (this helps us greatly to plan for the amount of meat to prepare) as well as what you will be bringing (side dish or dessert). Night Time Closures at RYY
The Glideslope Installation and the Taxiway Realignment Project both require night time runway closures to conduct construction activities inside the runway safety area. The two contractors have coordinated their closure requests and we are planning runway closures over the following nights: Sunday - October 31 from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am Monday - November 1 from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am Tuesday - November 2 from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am Wednesday - November 3 from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am Thursday - November 4 from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am (All times are local.) The Turkey fry is a coming
With the first cool weather and leaves starting to change the holiday season starts to creep into our minds. The Annual Superior Flight School Turkey Fry is on and scheduled. It will be on Sun. the 14th of November so there are no excuses like we will be out of town at the mother's or in-laws' house that week. Also it is on Sunday, so after that loss on Saturday from whoever is playing Georgia you can come drown your sorrows in a veritable cornucopia of smoked and deep fried turkey, chicken, beef and pork.

As usual we are planning a few things to give you an excuse to come out to the airport and hang out. More to come............

SFS 9th Anniversary Open House and BBQ - Update
Just a quick reminder for those who may have missed the first notice... we are planning on having the SFS 9th Anniversary Open House this Sunday, September 12 from 1pm until 6pm. Come join us as we celebrate our 9th year in business with an afternoon of food and fun... Tom Powers of Epps Aircraft Sales is planning on brining a Pilatus PC-12 to put on static display on the ramp. In addition, Dustin Cordier of Cessna Citation Sales is brining a special edition Cessna Mustang from Wichita for the afternoon. Dustin says that the special edition is worth seeing even if you have already seen the original. Susan Delgado will be on hand to provide more information about the Ninety-Nines Organization of Women Pilots. Established in 1929 by 99 women pilots to provide mutual support and advancement of aviation, the Ninety-Nines Organization of Women Pilots has continued and expanded that mission. Today, the organization promotes world fellowship through flight, provides networking and scholarship opportunities for women and aviation education in the community and preserves the unique history of women in aviation. Susan will have some flyers, etc. and probably a few things to give away to "raffle" off to the women that come out on Sunday. And finally, since it is always so popular at these events, we will once again have helicopter experience flights. For $50 you can put your hands on the controls and fly a lap around the patch in our Schweizer 300C. The menu for the day will consist of grilled chicken, pulled pork, hot dogs and hamburgers. We will be going from 1pm until about 6pm... We plan on lighting the grills around 1:30pm and serving food from 2pm until we run out... so don't be late. As you can see, we have a lot of fun things planned for this Sunday. If you think you might be interested in attending, please do me the favor of sending an email to let me know how many you are bringing..
