Bethany Place is a non-profit transitional home for single women and unwed mothers who desire to break the cycle of their past and to heal the wounds of fear and low self worth. Through education, a positive home atmosphere, discipline and responsibility, it is the focus of Bethany Place to educate such women to become productive, secure and financially stable members of society through hard work, dedication and determination.
God has called us to "feed the hungry, take in the homeless and clothe the naked" (Isaiah 58:6-7). Our main thrust in ministry is to disciple women and children (James 1:27), to break the generational chains of poverty and sin by teaching the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12). Our desire is to see women come into the fullness of Christ and to become Godly women and Godly mothers.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Bethany Place was founded in 1988 in Woodstock, Ga. Michael and Sandra Reed were so moved by the needs of the less fortunate, they began to collect food, clothing, furniture and household goods in an attempt to meet the needs of the many. They soon began to see many trends between poverty and abuse. This became very prevalent in women and children. Michael And Sandra came to realize that although meeting some of the physical needs were important, in most it was nothing more than a "band-aid" effect. In 1990, they desired to create a home with a positive family environment in an attempt to nurture not only the physical needs of the women and children, but also to provide them with an opportunity to break their past and create a better future.
I come with no hope to keep my baby. You showed me the light and gave me the will to fight. My broken bones are now healing. You have sheltered me from the storm and kept me and my baby safe and warm. Now you are bringing me back into the light. Where the devil had me in his grip so tight. I am now set free to be the person Jesus wants me to be. You gave me hope to fight out of the dark into the light. I will love you forever and you will always be a part of my life. Thank you for giving me the will to fight.
