Kay Starr Rachelson, L.C.S.W., is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Kay's practice offers individual therapy sessions, couples therapy, and family counseling.
Issues that Kay often addresses in therapy include:
* Depression, anxiety, lack of self confidence and self-esteem.
* Marriage counseling. Why is it so easy to "hate" our partners? You don't have to stay stuck in this horrible place. Many couples can find their way back to mutual respect and love.
* Feeling stressed, trapped or overwhelmed in your life. Not having enough time...
* Not finding satisfaction in your relational life. Problems include looking for love in the first place, looking for friends and community, or power struggles and pain in existing professional or personal relationships.
*Family problems. Kids driving you to the brink? Worries? The family works as a system and family sessions can be the most wonderful and productive or all. Parenting skills, communication skills, and more.
* Career angst of all kinds.
Since you have come here, I am assuming that you are curious about me, psychotherapy, marriage counseling or self-help. You are probably suffering in some way, whether big or small. Depression and sadness and fear and confusion come in many different packages. So does longing, and a striving toward more meaningful relationships, self fulfillment and happiness. You deserve to live your very best life. To have fulfilling love and hobbies. To love yourself and enjoy your own life, your own journey, your own special story. And to live and enjoy your family and community of friends, whether of choice or of blood or of marriage.
Psychotherapy is the key to unwrapping your packages and sorting through the good, the bad and the ugly.
It is also a huge amount of learning. And so in my practice, I do a good amount of teaching. I will hear from you, and you will hear from me. I believe that most of our problems arise out of the simple lack of skills and know-how. That what we've been doing hasn't been working, and that we need to unlearn what we've been believing and learn new ways of seeing ourselves and how we relate to others.
As a therapist who has taken this journey herself (personally I traveled from lonely, frustrated and confused to love, intimacy with others, a great marriage, career satisfaction and peace), I experienced for myself this re-learning. And like learning to jog, it takes work and time and commitment. But you are worth it. Now I whole heartedly pass along the relief, healing and teaching of psychotherapy to others.
Therapy is a place where you can come and totally focus on your self, your life, your beliefs, your unconscious and conscious agendas. Therapy is a place where you can focus, get support, teaching, and find your answers.
