Ms. Dodson has practiced US immigration and nationality law exclusively since 1996, providing information and advice on a wide range of issues, with an emphasis on employment-based immigration benefits. She has represented foreign national individuals and families as well as corporate employers, universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. Licensed to practice in Georgia, she is admitted to the U.S. District Courts of the Western District of Tennessee and the Northern District of Georgia. A long-time member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, she has been active in AILAs Mid-South Chapter and Atlanta Chapter, most recently serving on the Atlanta Chapter's Advocacy Committee (2007-present), as Committee Chair (2008-2009), and coordinating Lobby Day/National Day of Action at the district (2008-2009) and national level (2009). She's served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Latino Forum, as Regional Representative for Metro Atlanta, since 2007.
Before practicing law, Ms. Dodson was an editor specializing in the general sciences, philosophy, and Latin American studies for university and commercial publishers. She speaks and reads Spanish. She is a graduate of The University of Memphiss Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (JD, 1996), The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MA, English, 1985), and The University of Georgia (BA, English, 1980, cum laude), where she was admitted to the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi national honor societies.
