Established April 15, 2005, James Brown Speaks is solely owned and operated by James Brown. Thirteen years before this, on August 15, 1992, James was shot in the neck and robbed, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Rather than lying in the bed feeling sorry for himself, he decided to change not only his life, but the lives of others. He found courage in his crisis.
James Brown is now a motivational speaker with a powerful and life-changing message. As a former star high school athlete from a troubled family and a naval officer turned drug dealer, James understands the lure of the streets. He shares his life story as a way for him to heal past wounds and help others effectively overcome their current challenges. Through his inspirational book, Courage in the Midst of Crises, and motivational speaking engagements, he has already cultivated positive change in his audiences.
James Brown also operates a Non-Profit Organization, aptly named, the James Brown Youth Empowerment Organization, Inc.. JBYEO is dedicated to effectively educating, encouraging and empowering children and young adults in the area of substance abuse, including alcohol and other controlled substances, gang intervention and life skills. The objective is to inspire and prepare young people to become citizens who make better decisions in society.
