In 1968, Vernon Gober, an already seasoned mechanic, saw a need in Georgia for a mechanics shop that specialized in foreign cars. At the time, everybody liked to drive them but not many local folks wanted to work on them. Starting out at a little shop in downtown Atlanta, Vernon realized that his shop would need room to grow. After undergoing ALLDATA, ASA, and MACS certifications as well as detailed technical certification in all foreign makes and models the Gober family had established a local following as being the "GO TO" people for all mechnical repairs. Sports Car Service moved to Forest Park, GA from Atlanta, GA after their original location was sold to the Coke company in 1991 for the Olympic Games.
