Compass Pointe Counseling, Inc is a free-standing mental health center which is licensed by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Office of Regulatory Services.

We are a comprehensive Treatment and Educational center serving Cobb County and Metro Atlanta, Georgia. We provide services for depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and drug and alcohol dependence. We offer professional programs and counseling services for individuals, couples, and families.

One of the unique features at Compass Pointe Counseling, Inc. is that we also offer services for individuals who may not have a psychiatric diagnosis but are seeking support for specific personal or interpersonal issues. Issues may include grief or loss, anger management, enhancing communication skills, family or relationship conflict, or managing low self-esteem.
Individuals seeking information or services will have a free assessment or consultation to identify specific treatment goals and appropriate recommendations. Each case will be staffed with a board certified psychiatrist and a licensed counselor to ensure appropriateness for the program.

Philosophy of Treatment

We recognize mental illness and chemical dependence as bio-psycho-social conditions. Therefore, treatment generally is most effective when it includes medication, therapy, and education. Even though a small percentage of patients require some form of medication, studies indicate that patients respond most positively to a combination of therapy and medications.

Our philosophy for using a personal, internal compass is that most people are in search of meaning and purpose. The program will assist patients to develop principles for living and create a direction for life.

The program uses a 12-step model integrated with intensive therapy to help individuals identify triggers or causes for their addictive or maladaptive behaviors, develop appropriate and effective coping and behavioral skills, and learn to begin enjoying life and relationships again. Patients will be expected to actively participate and engage in the treatment process.

We believe that change, which may create internal and external conflict, can only take place when the patient is ready. Change is a process.
