Forsyth County School's Driver Education Program.
Our State Certified, 36 HR program, consists of 30 hrs classroom instruction plus 6hrs one on one driving with one of our instructors. The program and all instructors are State Certified. The cost of this program is ($425.00). The split program for the Forsyth County School system or for completion of the internet program will be ($325.00), which is for the 6hrs of driving to complete the Joshuas Law requirements. The Forsyth County School system charges a $100.00 lab fee for the classroom portion so the total fees are the same, whether you do it all here or the split program. However, the fee for the Internet program from our web site is $85.00, which is a savings of $15.00.
Here are some value packages to consider.
The 36-hour program: Includes Classroom plus 6 hours behind the wheel training for ($425.00) and is all you need to cover Joshuas Law.
The 30 plus 10: Includes Classroom plus 10 hours behind the wheel training for ($610.00) = $100.00 in Savings.
Best Value The 30 plus 20: Includes Classroom plus 20 hours behind the wheel training for (1200.00) = $235.00 in Savings. (Includes $75.00 state road test).
The 30 plus 40: Includes Classroom plus 40 hours behind the wheel training for ($2300.00) = $435.00 in Savings. (Includes $75.00 state road test).
Savings are based on our standard rate of $65.00 per hour for driving instruction.

What is a "30 and 6" driver's education course?
A 30 and 6 driver's education course is a course that consist of at least 30 hours of classroom training on the rules of the road and other related matters and 6 hours of behind the wheel training, where the student is driving the vehicle while an approved instructor observes and coaches the students driving performance. Insurance companies require teen drivers to complete a 30 and 6 course before offering any premium discounts.
Senate Bill 226 also known as "Joshua's Law" was passed during the 2005 General Assembly. Beginning January 1, 2007, all 16 year-olds applying for a Class D drivers license must complete an approved driver education course and complete a total of 40 hours of supervised driving, 6 hours of which must be at night, with a parent or guardians sworn verification that these requirements have been met. Any Georgia resident who has not completed an approved driver education course must be at least 17 years old to be eligible for a Class D driver's license. He or she must have completed a total of at least 40 hours of supervised driving, including at least 6 hours at night. The same verification in writing by a parent or guardian is required.
A Certificate of Completion is a DDS prescribed certificate providing written proof that the student has successfully completed a driver education course. Before taking a driver education course be sure to ask if they issue a Certificate of Completion for 30 classroom hours and 6 behind the wheel training. Insurance companies and the DDS will require a copy of the Certificate of Completion.
Yes, parents or guardians are eligible for a tax credit in an amount up to a $150.00 if their dependent minor child successfully completes a course through a private driver education school that is licensed with the DDS. A copy of the Certificate of Completion and proof of the fees paid for the course will be required to qualify for the credit. The amount of the credit is equal to $150.00 or the actual amount paid, whichever is less. Courses taken at private or public high schools do not qualify for this credit. Check with the Department of Revenue for more information.
