A Little Bit About Our Church...
First of all, you're probably wondering why we call ourselves "the friendly church." Aren't all churches supposed to be friendly? Perhaps we should say that in addition to being friendly to one another and to visitors, we are also very user-friendly. We realize that often people hesitate to come to a new church because they're afraid that they'll be pressured into joining. This is not the case at St. Luke's. We want you to want to join. If you would like to attend without joining, we're fine with that too. What we want is for you to have access to the word of God and the sacraments of the church, whether you receive them from us or from another congregation.
You've probably figured out by now that we're a pretty low pressure congregation. As such, we want to put your mind to rest concerning several issues.
We are not a large church, so you won't have to worry about being lost in the crowd.
We're not fussy about what you wear. Shorts, jeans and tee shirts are fine. We want to see you, not your outfit.
As a small church we have fewer volunteer opportunities than a larger church might have. Consequently, you may not be asked to volunteer for anything. Yet be assured that if you are looking for opportunities to serve God and the community, we can provide you with as much work as you can handle.
If you're looking for a church, we hope you'll give St. Luke's a try. If you come, we'll be glad to see you. We'll welcome you warmly, but we promise not to get too "pushy."
