Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat for Humanity International seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity of Hall County is an incorporated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and was established in 1991.
Partnering with the mission and goals of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity of Hall County works to promote home ownership with volunteers building houses in partnership with Gainesville residents in need of adequate housing.
The homecoming that "Charlie Company" Army Specialist Michael Walker, his wife Kim, and their four children had envisioned March of 2010 was not as joyous as they had anticipated. Delighted to be reunited, grateful to return home healthy, after more than a year of active duty in Afghanistan and 14 months separated from his family, Michael Walker began the ride home from Fort Stewart with the news that the family's trailer had burned and all their household possessions were destroyed. On August 6th, the Walker family received the wonderful announcement that HABITAT FOR HUMANITY of HALL COUNTY would soon begin work on a new home for them. We are in the process of fundraising for this build. You can make a difference by donating towards this build by "clicking here". Your quick and easy online donation of any amount will go a long way toward building not only a home but a future for this great soldier. If you prefer to send a check please make it payable to Habitat for Humanity of Hall County and mail it to PO Box 2514 Gainesville, GA 30503. Habitat appreciates our Armed Forces so much and this is our way to say thank you to the great soldiers that serve this nation and provide our freedom.
