California Gold is Sam and Kathryn Cole who founded the carwash and named it after the state, California, which they came from in 1995.
Sam and Kathy knew they would be opening a carwash after Sams passion, cars and a coffee shop/boutique after Kathys, sipping coffee and shopping.
In California they had a mobile detailing business and did specialized work on vehicles that others couldnt do. Sam was the one insurance companies, car enthusiasts and body shops called to solve their paint and substance problems.
Armed with that expertise, they arrived in Georgia on June 27, 1995; bought their home on June 28 and found their corner at Lawrenceville Highway and Dekalb Industrial Way on July 7, 1995 after being in Metro a little more than one week.
After renovating and creating the site which had previously been the second Waffle House in Metro Atlanta, they opened the doors of CALIFORNIA GOLD HAND WASH and ESPRESSO BAR, on September 8, 1995.
The rest speaks for itself. They have offered friendly spirit-filled service to thousands for the past thirteen years. Many of their first customers still frequent them.
